María Ángeles León López

María Ángeles studied economics between Ireland and Spain, started her career in Marketing but quickly realized that sales was her natural drive. She is passionate about her work, and enjoys giving to, sharing and trusting people.

She works for Telefónica S.A since more than 20 years, where she has led a "digital transformation" sales job. She currently combines this job with her work in the Family foundation. Her philanthropic experience of over 15 years, led to a change in Open Value’s model, from a pure philanthropic one, to a personal approach, that combines philanthropy, as seed capital, with private investment and business models, as tools for development and sustainability. Her experiences with Acumen and YSB founders have been of great inspiration for this vision.

María Ángeles is co-founder of Open Value Foundation and the driving force of the new vision and model developed, that seeks for more efficient and sustainable ways to solve the social problems to achieve higher social impact.

Arianne Martín Rodríguez

Arianne is an economist by education, marketing, strategy and sales expert by professional experience, and a social worker and teacher out of passion. She is a passionate traveler, a people person, and loves photography and yoga.

She started her career at Procter & Gamble, working in marketing and strategic management for 12 years. She made a career move and has dedicated the last 11 years to educate and empower women and rural communities around the developing world, working for different NGO’s and creating her own in Indonesia.

Arianne is co-leading the Foundation, she has developed and implemented the new hybrid model and is in charge of managing and selecting ONG's and social businesses to support, as well as the impact measurement and management of their social impact.

Mercedes Cerero Real de Asúa

Mercedes is an Economist, CEFA (Certified European Financial Analyst) and PDG (IESE Business School). Her professional career has developed between the financial and the non-profit sector. She started at MEFF, where for 12 years she worked in the market development and the training division, BME Institute. Since 2015, she works at Abaco Capital, an asset management company.

During her spare time, she enjoys her family, the mountain and working for social projects. She is an advisor at several charity boards, and has also promoted a startup association. For 5 years, she worked full time managing projects at INDES Foundation.

Mercedes works for Open Value Foundation since the beginning, advising the Board and developing contents to promote a social impact culture amongst the financial community and investors.

Álvaro Pérez-Pla

He discovered his philanthropic side while studying Business Administration in Spain (CUNEF), during his trips to Kenya and India, and while participating in fund raising events for social projects. He also discovered that his passion is lo leave a better world than the one he was born into.

He started an NGO named Kubuka in Kenya and Zambia, where he lived and worked for four and a half years, coordinating and leading the organisation. He came back to Spain to lead the operations for a social start-up that grants microcredits to women in Latin America.

Álvaro will be responsible for leading the Acumen Fellowship Program in Spain, a collaboration between Acumen and OVF which brings to Spain a personal leadership and soft skills program that current and future leaders need to overcome the social issues we face.

”In OVF I see a platform that provides a holistic support to people, social enterprises and foundations, collaborating and working together with other initiatives to create a movement that leads to a more efficient use of resources in the fight against poverty issues..”

María Cruz-Conde

María has been involved in local and international social organisations and movements for more than 15 years. An odontology graduate, she combined her studies with collaborations with different NGO’s, supporting capacity building and local empowerment programs. After her studies, she lived for two years in Cambodia, developing WASH and locally led development programs.

She studied a Master degree on International Development at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, and since found a new north star, working for international development agencies and Foundations in Spain and Latin America. She has studies and experience in sustainability, gender, migrations and human rights. She coordinates projects and campaigns advocating against women sexual trafficking for the Serra Schönthal Foundation.

María will give support to OVF’s ecosystem, creating and empowering networks, building partnerships and generating awareness on the role and relevance of impact investing and venture philanthropy in the fight against poverty.

Pablo Arigita Baena

Engineer and PDD by IESE. His 20 years of professional experience in companies of the ACS and SODEXO group have allowed Pablo to develop a wide vision on the management and support of corporate and business projects, from design to commercialisation and management, mainly in the environment and health service sectors.

He is passionate about nature and mountaineering and about entrepreneurship His professional experience in Middle East and India had a profound effect on him, and triggered his decision to engage professionally in supporting the resolution of social problems.

Pablo collaborates with OVF supporting the team responsible for the selection of social enterprises, as well as supporting the businesses with technical assistance.

Arturo García Alonso

Arturo is an economist and lawyer, having completed his education with an MBA. He has been working in finance and strategy for more than 20 years in several companies in different sectors, from start-ups to multinational groups. Arturo is working in Open Value Foundation and Open Value Social Fund, analyzing and selecting funds and companies to invest in. He is a member of the Investment Committee, and is responsible for finance and strategy related subjects.

“I would like to do my bit in taking the help to disfavored people to the next step, combining the non-for profit and the for-profit worlds, in order to multiply the final impact. The more people we are able to engage, the more impact we will be able to achieve.”
